Sir George today highlighted the contribution of local carers as new research suggested how much they save each year. Sir George welcomed the launch of a new website to increase support for local carers and called on his constituents to claim all the help they are entitled to.

He said

“We always knew that carers’ contribution in looking after their relatives, partners and friends was immense. But the research from Carers UK suggesting that carers save the UK up to £57 billion a year – is truly staggering.

“It’s crucial that carers are properly supported and that MPs continue to look at ways in which we can maximise the help available to them.”

One in nine people in my constituency is a carer and research by Carers UK suggests that three people in five will be carers during their lifetime.
