12 local schools were invited to Tesco in Andover to receive their computers and peripherals from Sir George Young. Anton Junior, Clatford Primary, Icknield, Knights Enham Junior, Overton Primary, Portway Infant, Roman Way Primary, Test Valley School, Balksbury Infant and Vigo Junior had all collected enough coupons from Tesco to quality for equipment.

“I congratulate the children, parents, teachers and staff for getting so many coupons earlier this year; and I congratulate Tesco for running this scheme for the eighth successive year.”

This year, £10.5 million worth of computing equipment has been given to schools, including 4700 brand new state-of-the art computers. The scheme will be run again next year.

After the presentation, Sir George was interviewed by four children for Tesco Schoolnet 2000, the world’s biggest schools Internet project involving over 15000 schools.
