Sir George meets Ashlawn Gardens residents
8 Aug 2002
Sir George met residents of Ashlawn Gardens to discuss the problems that confront them in accessing the Town Centre from Winchester Street.

“Ashlawn Gardens is an attractive development off Winchester street, comprising sheltered flats and bungalows. Many of the residents use wheelchairs to get to and from the shops, and others walk; however the pavement is narrow, poorly maintained and often at an angle that makes it dangerous to use it.
The nearest letter-box is also on the other side of the road, which is getting busier and busier.
At a well-attended meeting, I agreed to pursue these and other issues with the local authorities and Royal Mail.”
