Raising money for the school and the church, Amport Village held its annual fete.
A new feature this year was the Duck Race - not ducks swimming in the Pilhill Brook, but Indian Runner Ducks on dry land.
"Although we had an opportunity to look at the ducks in the ring before the race, this was a poor guide to their form. Their speed appeared to relate to how hungry they were, as the incentive to complete the course was a plate of food at the far end. My duck had obviously dined well before the start as he seemed to be more interested in the spectators than in the race."

The organisers did well to keep the many dogs at the fete away from the course.
