Peter Williamson raised £800 for Penton Church by having his hair cut.
Pete, a popular builder from Penton Harroway, has been recognised for decades by his flowing locks. He agreed to have his hair cut - and cut very short - if he raised at least £500 for the Flower festival anmd Country Fair, in aid of Holy Trinity Church, Penton Mewsey.
His friends and neighbours responded to the challenge, and a hairdresser from Weyhill peformed the public ceremony outside the church.
"All credit to Pete for doing this; the Vicar is standing by to give him counselling if he misses his hair, and I think we missed a trick by not auctioning the locks afterwards."
