Now that the ARK buildings has been completed and is operational, a Celebration Evening was held to thank its supporters.
"I have watched this building going up over the years, and now that it is finished it is even better than I thought it would be. It is a high quality building that sets standards which the whole NHS should aspire to."
Sir George paid tribute to the vision and energy of Myrrdin Rees, one of the surgeons at the hospital, and to Mary Fagan - Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire - who kept the momentum going. "Raising £4.5m is a tremendous challenge - as is securing the revenue funding to keep the place going. Top marks to the Trustees for making this facility available."
