To see how the Royal Mail was coping with the Christmas rush, Sir George looked in at Andover Sorting office at 6.45am. He was shown round by the Manager, Geoff Yates and met most of the postmen and women before they went out on their rounds.
"I was able to help my own postman, Andy Duff, a little by removing my post from his rack. I was impressed by the efficiency of the operation - confirmed by the fact that I get very few complaints about the postal service."

"They work under greater pressure than usual; because of economies within the Post Office, Andover has not been given more postmen to cope with the growing population. This means longer rounds for some. It was good to be able to thank so many of them personally for the quality service they offer my constituents."
