Sir George welcomed the opening of Dene Court, Andover's first permanent Resettlement Hostel. Run by Two Saints, the hostel will take referrals from the nearby Day Centre at Union House, where many homeless people already go for advice and support, from the Dale Trust, the Crisis Centre and from Social Services.
"I welcome the work which Two Sainta have done in winning the confidence of nearby residents, understandably worried about having this facility nearby. Having been round, spoken to the Manager Malacky Gordon and the staff, and seen the quality of the project, I believe it will be responsibly run."
Catering for 12 residents, the project will develop relationships with Testway Housing and local private landlords, so people can move on. It will help people claim benefit and place those into work or training schemes who are available and ready.
"All credit to John Bolton, for the work he has put into developing such a centre over many years, and to Simon Mantle of Two Saints for bringing it to fruition."
