As part of his programme of visits to local schools, Sir George visited Vigo Infant School on Friday.
"I was very fortunate in that the school was doing a special project on India and China, and the children had all been invited to dress up for the day."
"I was enormously impressed by the school, under the leqadership of Carolyn Evans, the Headteacher. The work that was being done with children who needed help with reading was amasing - with one child catching up 27 months in a matter of weeks. Many parents, governors and other friends of the school have volunteered to help, but the school could do with more volunteers to improve yet further the high standard of care that goes to children who need that bit of extra help."
