Sir George pursues compensation for lost deposits on spectacles with Health Minister
11 Mar 2003
"I was sorry to hear from a constituent that i2i has stopped trading and that apparently sums of money are owing to people who had put a deposit down. I have taken this up with Ministers to see if there is a scheme for compensation."

See below.

The Rt Hon John Hutton MP
Minister of State for Health
Department of Health
Richmond House
79 Whitehall
London SW1A 2NS 17th February 2003

GM4, Bridge Street

The above optician shop has closed, owing sums of money to customers who have put down deposits on spectacles.

I wonder if you would be good enough to let me know whether there is some statutory scheme under which they get compensation?

Yours sincerely
