Sir George opens Rookwood Fete
17 May 2003
Rookwood's Annual Fete got off to an early start at 11am, so as not to interfere with the Cup Final in the afternoon.
Opening it ast 11am, Sir George paid tribute to the school's recent academic achievements - "The results were first class" - and said it was a happy and successful school.
"The fete raises the extras that the children need - the playground, the benches, the IT centre - and which help to make the school so well equipped."
Sir George paid tribute to Julie Thomas, Chair of the Friends of Rookwood, and the team of volunteers who manned the stalls that hoped to raise over £1000.
