Sir George Young has been out and about with Conservative council candidates for forthcoming local elections.
Sir George spent an evening in Oakley Ward with candidate Councillor Gwen Richardson, who is standing for re-election; and the following evening he was in Tadley with Sheila Allan, helping her to regain her seat in Baughurst and North Tadley. He also spent last Saturday in Millway Ward with Councillor David Drew and council candidate Sandra Hawke, canvassing in the Ramparts off Salisbury Road; and then he was out on the doorstep with Councillors Pam Mutton and Marion Kerley in Winton Ward.
"There has been a very good response on the doorstep" said Sir George. "We made it clear that the Conservative Party is fighting these elections hard, and - unlike our opponents - contesting every seat".
Sir George said that people were blaming the Labour Government for the local council tax increases, and wanted an administration that kept the costs down, and gave good quality public services.
