The Principal of Cricklade College held a working lunch, to strengthen the links between the College and local employers.
In attendance were Joe Scicluna, Editor of the Andover Advertiser, Cllr Pat West, Mayor of Test valley and her husband Peter, Tony Allock, Head of Human resources at Vitacress, Mr Houghton of Thompson, the Publishers, David Gleave from Test Valley Borough Council and Sir George.

"The Government is about to publish its Skills Strategy, and the role of local colleges such as Cricklade is crucial in providing training. Cricklade serves 5000 students, of whom 4000 are over 19, and serves some 100 businesses locally. It has particular strengths in four vocational areas.

The way Government funds training is very important, and at the moment the funding favours students completing whole qualifications. In Andover, there is a particular need to offer employers and students the learning they need so we need a more flexible funding regime.

Cricklade had a good inspection recently, being higher than benchmark in almost all areas."
