Sir George spent a morning visiting Testbourne School in Whitchurch with Headteacher, Hilary Jackson.
"I was very impressed with what the school was doing on the Monday I dropped in. Some of the pupils had gone to Marwell Zoo, and others were out with the Army. The BSM had three cars on the playing fields, teaching pupils how to drive and explaining about car mechanics and road safety. Winchester Prison had sent a Prison Officer under the "Me? No Way!" scheme, and the police were there explaining about drugs and alcohol. Another class was a having a French day, dressed up as French men and women, trading in French goods in Euros."
"I was pleased to hear that the numbers will be up next year, as this takes some of the pressure off the budget as the capitation income goes up. There was a good positive atmosphere throughout the school, and I very much enjoyed the visit."
