An Exhibition featuring the draft Abbotts Ann Village Design Statement was held in the “Skittles Alley” of the Eagle Pub in the village on Saturday and Sunday Dec 4th and 5th. The exhibition was part of the continuing process of consultation, allowing residents to comment on the draft that has been sent to Test Valley Borough Council. Sir George visited the exhibition with the Clerk to the Parish Council, David Downey MBE.
“I was delighted that the Lotteries Board gave a grant for the preparation of the design statement. This is a Millennium project, showing how the village developed and what are the features of interest and value. It will ensure that future development and change will respect and preserve the character and distinctiveness of the village. Hopefully, it will be adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance by Test Valley, and this example will be followed by villages elsewhere.”
