The Priors Players gave three performances of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at St Mary Bourne Village Hall.
"We saw the last performance, and word had already reached us from friends who had seen the earlier ones that this was a production not to be missed. The Players produced 12th Night in a form that Shakespeare would have recognised, with the stage protruding into the body of the hall, with the audience on three sides, and with music from the period played on and off stage on all the right instruments."
"Hilary Jones and Derek Kane brought Shakespeare's humour to life, and allowed the talent in St Mary Bourne to extract the full value from his lines. Richard Sutcliffe's Malvolio, acted in Hitchcockian style, stole the show - with professional performances from Steve Leach and John Dixon as Orsino and Olivia. Derek Kane and Richard Sutcliffe as Sir Andrew and Sir Toby were a well-matched pair - adequately refreshed at the George - and Rebecca Anning's singing was superb. The cross-dressing built into the play added to the humour"
"The Priors Players set a standard that other villages aspire to."
