St Michael and All Angels, Weyhill held a Flower Festival that had, as its theme, A Celebration of Music.
"Hazel Bulpitt did a first class job in organising this Festival, and in transforming the Church into a blaze of colour."

Extract from Programme Notes

What did people do before the advent of music?
How did they stay calm throughout a long, nerve-wracking day?
How did they relax after a long, hard day at work?
What did they sing to - and what did they dance to - when at play?
Music is a common language spoken round the world;
Music builds a bridge between all peoples and all lands;
Music is the link which holds us close together;
Music is the bond of love in which we all clasp hands.
What did people do before the advent of music?

Band Aid were a group of musicians who raised money through music - they were the inspiration for our theme for this year (sheer coincidence that Winchester Cathedral has the same theme). We are hoping that in our small way we can raise money for the upkeep of our lovely and very ancient church and for The Tear Fund, a worthy cause.
The Fundn helps people in many countries become self sufficient, making sure they receive a fair price for the goods they produce, giving them hope, and an awareness of the Christian faith.
Thanks to all the sponsors for their generosity, the talented flower arrangers, Ted Perren for the dahlias, everyone who helped over the two days of the festival and to Lucy and
Julia at Bulpitt Print for their help, and to Mike my husband and Paul my son for providing all the printing free of charge. Without you all the Festival would not take place.
