Whitchurch said farewell to its Vicar for the past 14 years - Rev Michael Grylls - and to his wife Marian.
"All Hallows was packed for Communion at 10am, and after the service Hazel Cormack, one of the Churchwardens, paid a glowing tribute to Michael for his leadership and friendship over the past 14 years. He was given a Claud Butler bicycle, a helmet and a bell; and Marian was given a glass Great Crested Grebe, sculpted by Philip Langman."
"He will be a hard act to follow; his sermons were of the highest quality - particularly his last one - and his pastoral work was superb."
