10 years ago, Andover and District MENCAP established Stephens Ark in Byngs Walk, Admirals Way. Stephens Ark provides Day Care during the holidays for children with learning difficulties, and respite residential care at weekends, so parents can get a break.
"Some of the Trustees are parents whose children have been through the scheme and benefitted. It has expanded over the years, with a downstairs extension being added; and the playground has been made safer. What struck me during the evening was the very happy atmosphere, and the way the children supported each other."
"Hampshire Social Services have been very good about backing the project, despite all the pressure on their funds. And it was goosd to hear how MENCAP are planning to provide yet more facilities in the future."

"In November, Mollie Antrobus will be joining MENCAP as Director. Her background as Director of Operations at Andover Hospital will be invaluable."
