Sir George has agreed to second Michael Howard’s nomination as Party Leader, joining Oliver Letwin who is his proposer.

“I greatly enjoyed working with Michael when we were both in the Department of Environment under John Major, and when we worked together in William Hague’s Shadow Cabinet. I believe he will be a first class Party Leader. His nomination has my 100% support and I hope demonstrates the breadth of the backing Michael has in the parliamentary party.”
