Kingsclere Conservatives held their first function of the New Year at the home of Cllr Alan and Mrs Heath Denness.
Over 50 people attended, and listened to Cllr Denness explain the process the village was making in preparing its Design Statement. He explained that, when approximately one third of the Councillors at Basingstoke and Deane retired in May, there would be an opportunity for a change of control. (Currently, the Conservatives are the largest single group, but are two short of overall control. The District is controlled by a LibDem/Lab alliance)
Speaking after him, Sir George congratulated the village on making broadband available, in the absence of the local telephone exchange being enabled by BT. "This is a good example of the village working together to improve the facilities available to residents."
He said politics was getting more exciting at Westminster, with a morte focused, professional and confident Opposition party drawing level with the Government.
