Sir George rejoins Friends of the Earth
11 Feb 2004
After a gap of ten years, Sir George has rejoined the Friends of the Earth. "I was a member in the 1980's and 1990's, but our ways parted when I was Secretary of State for Transport and the Department built the Newbury Bypass. While I don't agree with everything they do, I admire their campaigning zeal on the environment, on agriculture, on walking and cycling, on marine conservation and on the general theme of sustainability. I want to help their overall objectives by being a subscribing member."

Dear Sir George
Friends of the Earth
February 9, 2004
I am delighted to welcome you to Friends of the Earth. Thank you for joining us.
As a member of Friends of the Earth, you are now part of an international network which is leading the struggle to protect our natural world. With your help we can campaign against the destruction of the Earth's natural habitats, against the pollution of our air, land and water, whilst striving to promote renewable, sustainable alternatives for our global environment. Our successes in the past have been down to the commitment of people like you. Without your invaluable support we would not be able to achieve such broad- ranging victories for the planet - and for people.
You'll find enclosed an introductory booklet to Friends of the Earth as well as your first copy of "Earth Matters", our regular supporter magazine. The booklet aims to give you an overview of what Friends of the Earth stands for and the campaigns we are currently working on. You'll receive "Earth Matters" three times a year, packed with updates and ideas on how to support our campaigns.
Yours sincerely
Kirstie Arnould Fundraising Manager
