Avoiding the Bank Holiday rain, Upper Clatford and Anna Valley held their May Fayre, helping to raise funds for the Upper Clatford Village Hall - amongst other causes. The Fayre was opened by Sheila Ridge who ran in with an Olympic torch (having recently run the Marathon) which she presented to John Palin, who represented Britain in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics for small bore rifle shooting. Between them, they declared the Fyre open.
