HSBC raised the Twinings Jubilee Trophy at the Andover Barnardo’s Golf Day for the second year running. Twenty teams got into the swing of things and put their best foot forward on Friday 14th May for the 5th Andover Barnardo’s Golf Day organised by The Andover Professionals Fundraising Committee to raise money for the UK’s leading children’s charity, Barnardo’s.
"My thanks to the dedicated team of local businessmen responsible for organising this event, include founder members of the group Mark Hyson of Hysons Accountants and Jan Budzynski, both of whom are key to the running of the day and, Chris Kitchener of Pentagon Mercedes Benz and Steve Leathley of Stannah."
Local teams putting up good competition were: Connells, DS Smith Wessex, Mobility Seating, William S Baxter, MD Services, Downes Transport, AW Garland, 4X and Jerry’s Outlaws
Other local businesses were encouraged by Chris Kichener and Steve Leathley to support the event by very kindly sponsoring holes around the course. They included Point to Point Couriers, Black Lion Transport, Andover Tachograph Centre, RAC Autowindscreens, VES, Graham Sykes, Pearson Goss recruitment, Russells Bodyshop and Brooks Crownhill, with additional support from Tesco, who kindly donated wine for the Prizes.

Jon Capes, Captain of Capes’ Exiles’ won the nearest the pin competition and Terry Riley of House of Sarunds the Longest Drive.
The Rt Hon Sir George Young Bt, MP, who has also kindly supported the event for the last 5 years, attended the dinner and presented the prizes to the winners. "They had marvellous weather for this year's Golf Day, a record entry of teams and a record sum raised."
On behalf of the group Mark Hyson said “It has been an excellent day. We are delighted with the support from local businesses we have received and to have raised over £5,000 this year, which will go towards Barnardo’s work with some of the UK’s most vulnerable children”
