A strong contingent of Conservatives from NW Hampshire were at the Botley Grange Hotel to meet Michael Howard and Liam Fox as they got off the campaign bus. The two were on a tour of the Southern Coast with candidates for the European Parliament. Roy Perry and Therese Coffey, two candidates from Hampshire, were at the rally.
"Michael set out his vision of an outward-looking deregulated Europe, in contrast to the Europe supported by the LibDems and Labour, which is more inward-looking and more closely regulated. He criticised the voting record of sitting UKIP MEPs, and made a strong case for a big block of Conservative MEP's in the new Parliament. He did not accept the defeatist view that it was inevitable that the EU should become more federalist; indeed, with the new entrants, the centre of gravity is moving our way."
