TVCS|held a Cheese and Wine Event at the Upper Guild Hall in Andover to celebrate National Volunteers Week.
The Chief Executive, Janet Blann spoke of the enthusiasm and passion of the volunteers in Test Valley, and paid tribute to their flexibility and diversity. They were often able to respond more economically than their statutory partners. She asked Parliament to review the current Criminal Records Bureau regime. "Volunteers who work for more than one organisation have to go through the same rigmarole for each organisation. I believe there should be a passport, that made this unnecessary."
Also speaking at the event was the Deputy Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Peter Boulton, who referred to the voluntary sector as the "glue holding society together."
Voluntary organisations were given certificates to thank them for their work.
