The Bishop of Basingstoke, Trevor Willmott, opened the Church Fete at Ashford Hill. He remembered the pilots who took off for D-Day three miles away, 60 years previously.
The fete, usually held at Cheam School, was held this year in the recreation ground at Ashford Hill and raised several hundred pounds for the church.
