In conjunction with Overton Rugby Club, Laverstoke Park held an Open Day at Southley Farm from 3pm to 9pm. Some two thousand people attended.
Clare Scheckter, wife of Jody#ie Scheckter the owner of Laverstoke, said the object of the Open Day was "to understand how the best
tasting and healthiest food is produced, to try some of their fantastic organic produce and to have fun! To add to this, we are trying to organise pony rides, face painting, bouncy castle and we hope that these, coupled with a tour of the farm with all our wonderful animals on show and informative lectures will all add up to an interesting and fun family day out with a difference."

Sir George said that he and his wife had spent a fascinating hour at the farm, listening to Jodie explain his vision for an organic, environment-friendly farm, with its own abbattoir and shop, employing local people and selling them healthy produce; and then goling round looking at the cattle, wild boar, fruit orchards, poultry and chicks.
"Jodie is hoping to move into beer and bread, to braoden the range of locally produced products. It was also interesting to see the first identical calf quads in the world. The water buffalo ice cream was sensational."
