Sir George visited the Andover office of Media Mondiale in Andover High St. Standing up is Michael Hook, Chairman and sitting next to Sir George - who is looking at the company's website - is John Tayler, Marketing Director. Standing behind is Pamela Callaghan, Director of Communications.
Media Mondiale Limited was founded in 1989 by Michael Hook, a specialist in international advertising media who had previously been Head of International
Media at Ogilvy & Mather.
Media Mondiale Limited's business includes providing advice on the most appropriate forms of advertising for clients; buying advertising space in print, broadcast, electronic media or whatever; and broader marketing services.
In co-operation with a number of overseas full service and media agencies Michael formed the Media Mondiale Network of independently owned agencies to provide a world-wide media planning and buying service using local expertise. In many countries the network provides a full marketing service.
Over ten years the Network has grown to be represented in 68 countries world-wide providing what is possibly the world's widest spread marketing service.
Recent surveys have shown the Network to be sixth largest world-wide independent grouping measured by billings and largest in Europe by the same
criterion. World-wide billings for the Network for 1998 were around $2.0 billion, with Media Mondiale Limited contributing $4.8 million with a staff of 2 1/2.
Business comes from end customers (e.g. Wolf-Bauwens Germany, The Pattaya Orphanage) and from creative agencies (e.g. for clients Rugby World Cup,
London School of Economics). International business flows into and out of the local offices, with at least 48 of the network partners sharing business during the last year.
“I was most impressed by the efficiency of this operation. With its small staff, it can offer a highly professional service in many parts of the globe, competing and winning against larger organisations. It is part of the strength of Andover that it has such a wide range of successful companies, providing the services needed in the XXlst century.”
