Following the recent flooding in his constituency, Sir George has welcomed the decision of the Environment Agency to ‘enmain’ a number of local rivers and watercourses.

“This means that the Environment Agency will take responsibility for these rivers, and will be responsible for implementing measures to reduce flood risk. It basically brings these rivers up to the status of a main river.”

“However, this is not the end of the campaign; we now have to make sure that the Environment Agency has the resources to carry out the necessary flood prevention measures.”
