Six teams entered the Highclere & East Woodhay Quiz, held at Highclere Village Hall, with a Guy Fawkes theme.
Branch Chairman John Izett and Steve Myers were the quizmasters, and the winning team - the Mensa Rejects - included local councillor Horace Mitchell, Association Chairman Margaret Milner-Williams and her husband Charles, local MP Sir George and his wife Aurelia.
Speaking at the event, Sir George said there were lessons to be learned from the recent referendumn on a Regional assembly for the North East.
"People like their politics to be local - not remote; people don't want more politicians; and the Government is not very popular - even in its heartlands."
Also at the quiz was local parish council Chairman John Maxwell, who will be fighting the County Council seat on May 5th.
