Sir George Young MP will visit Royal Mail’s Andover delivery office on Friday 17 December to see for himself how postmen and women in the area get Christmas sorted.

The MP will take a tour of the delivery office to see how we deal with the mountains of festive mail. He will also chat to our hardworking staff who make sure they deliver a first class Christmas for Andover residents.

Sir George will make an early start in order to meet Sean Board - Delivery Office Manager, and some of the 79 postmen and women, who are responsible for ensuring that Andover’s massive Christmas mailbag is delivered to over 23,000 addresses at Royal Mail’s busiest time of year.

Commenting on the visit Sir George said: “I am looking forward to my annual visit to Andover’s sorting office. I am amazed at the local knowledge of the postmen and women; not only do they know who lives where, but they know what is going on in the villages and what the local issues are. And they are popular with my constituents.”
“I get very few complaints about the mail. I know there has been a lot of upheaval in the past 12 months, but things seem to have settled down now.”

The visit will be just in time to post any cards and presents for delivery before Christmas, with the last recommended posting date on Tuesday 21st December for First Class mail.
