St Peters Church in St Mary Bourne held its Christmas Fayre at the Village Centre, helping to raise funds towards its quota.
"Most of the village were there, if not selling then buying. The Vicar had a fine range of books about Italy, and Nigel Dickinson was selling olives from his copious Italian estates."
"I know that Michael Widen, Derek Kane and many others worked hard to make this event a great success."
Over £900 was raised on a bad day, weatherwise, and when much of the village was watching the rugby on TV.
