Looking in at the Wykeham Club for a relaxing pint, Cllr Pat West and Sir George met "The Ratpack" - the name of the pools team from Enham Alamein - who had just won the Division 5 Pools Trophy.
"This team was started relatively recently at Enham - and all credit to them for winning a trophy. The tutors at Enham, who equip disabled people with the skills they need to find work in Andover, have a phenomenal success rate of placing some 80% in full time employment; and it was good to catch up on their news after the Awards Ceremony at the Wykeham Club."
The famous “Enham Rat Pack” pool team started by C.A.D. tutors Ray Hutchings and Mick Dear to help disabled students join the tide of social inclusion have won division 5 of the Andover Pool Association.
"It has been a magnificent effort and the students, clients, and employees of Enham involved have visibly grown in confidence, and gained invaluable social skills during the season."
Enham Social club have played a big part in the inclusion process, and the team would like to thank them for their encouragement.
The team were presented with their shield and trophies on Friday at the Wykeham Club and had photographs taken with County Councillor Pat West and M.P.Sir George Young, who were impressed enough with the explanation of the work going on at Enham to accept an invitation to visit Enham on an open day.
The “Rat Pack`s” plan is to visit other colleges,(Councillor West has offered to put up a trophy) so Enham can continue this swim with the tide of inclusion; this pool is just the start .
