Sir George has written to the Chief Executive of Lloyds TSB, Peter Ellwood, protesting at the proposed closure of the bank’s branch in Swan Street, Kingsclere.
“I have been contacted by many constituents in Kingsclere, who are deeply unhappy at the bank’s proposals to close another branch in a village in North West Hants. They will now have to travel to Newbury or Basingstoke to do their banking, adding to car journeys and inconvenience. It is a further blow to the viability of village life, as this is the only bank in Kingsclere.”
Sir George has protested against earlier closures in Whitchurch and Overton, and is backing Kingsclere Parish Council in their protests.
