"I welcome this rally, organised by Whitchurch Town Council and supported by all parties. Talking to some of the postmen who are based at the sorting office, they live in Whitchurch, walk to the Sorting Office, sort the letters and then go out on their rounds. If that Sorting Office is closed, they will have to get to Basingstoke early in the morning - and they don't all have cars - sort the letters, and then come all the way back. That makes no sense."
"The present parcels office is new, very convenient and a well-thought facility which should be kept. Some parcels would then have to be collected from Basingstoke, if no one was in when delivery is attempted."
"The number of people who turned up to support the rally shows the strength of local feeling. I will do all I can to keep this valued facility."
