Sir George has warmly welcomed the announcement that Andover will get a multi-screen cinema.
"For too long, we have all had to go to Basingstoke or Salisbury to see a film; and now we will have our own modern, competitively priced multi-screen cinema in the middle of the town. Well done Ian Carr and the Borough Council; and well done Hampshire County Council for lending a hand."
"Over the past thirty years, Andover has been losing things. Railway stations, department stores, cinemas, and theatres. Now the town is fighting back; we are getting our own theatre, a cinema and the prospect of our own radio station next year. A hotel is under way at Portway, with another one proposed near the town centre. The town is on the move again."
