The First Burghclere Brownies and Guides invited back May Queens from up to 50 years ago to celebrate the 50th Crowning of the May Queen.
"Sharon Meads, helped by Maggie and Annette, put on a great show at Clere school which was enjoyed by the village and the families, past and present, of those who had taken part in this splendid celebration. There was an official opening and welcome by Mary Bulbeck, who was there at the beginning. Music was provided by the Burghclere Primary School Band. The guests were given a tulip, and I was given a towel with the names of the Burghclere May Queens inscribed on it. A great start to my ninth Parliament!"
