Andrew Dunnett, the Conservative Candidate, won the Anna Ward by-election with 658 votes, against 176 for the LibDems and 47 for the Labour candidate. The turnout was 23%.
"This is an excellent result for Andrew, who worked very hard throughout the campaign. Comparisons with last time are difficult, because Labour did not stand in 2003 and UKIP did. But we increased our share of the vote from 63% to 74% which is a good result."

Last time the result was
Con 809
LibDem 398
UKIP 176
