Andrew Turner, MP for the Isle of Wight, addressed the Christmas Lunch of the North West Hampshire CWCC (Conservative Women's Consultative Committee). This was held at the Village Centre in St Mary Bourne and chaired by Mrs Susan Beardshall. "Andrew paid tribute to the work of the last three leaders of the Conservative Party, who have rebuilt it so the new leader next Tuesday has a better inheritance than his predecessors. He criticised the poor record of the Government on the NHS and their ability to spin. For example, the Government claim there are more dentists in Hampshire, giving the impression that all is well with NHS dentistry. What they didn't say - until Andrew got the information out of them - was that fewer people are registered with NHS dentists because so many dentists won't register new patients. And it is the number of NHS patients, not NHS dentists, that is the crucial figure."
