The Mayor of Whitchurch, Cllr Irene Clark, switched on the lights in Whitchurch after a short service of carol singing.
"This is the first time Whitchurch have done this recently, and I welcome the way that local retailers have clubbed together to raise the profile of the town in the run up to Christmas. I join the Mayor in hoping that many people will do their Christmas shopping locally, as the range of products available in the shops broadens. Dunley Wines were on sale at the shop next door - a good example of high quality local produce being readily available."
