Derek Robinson, the Andover Hospital campaigner, died last Wednesday. he had been suffering from cancer for some time.
"I was very sorry to hear of Derek's death on Wednesday; we all knew how ill he was, though his energy, cheerfulness and determination would have led one to believe otherwise. I got to know him well when he launched his Andover Hospital Campaign; the public meeting he organised in the summer was one of the most moving and effective I have attended in over 30 years as an MP. He cared passionately about the National Health Service and devoted his energy to improving it and to building up services in Andover. His drive and commitment put those of us who enjoy better health to shame.
Derek may be no longer with us; but the vision that inspired him in his last few months will live on. Our thoughts are very much with his family, especially his wife Elizabeth and his brother Brian."
