Parents, staff and children from Knights Enham Infants and Junior Schools met at the end of term to release 368 balloons, as part of their campaign to save the schools from closure. There was one balloon for each child, with a prize for the balloon that travels furthest.

"This was an impressive display of solidarity, at a difficult time for the schools. I quite understand that Hampshire County Council need to consult, because of the surplus primary school places in the north of the town. However, I hope that the uncertainty can be resolved quickly because of the corrosive effect on morale."
Present with Sir George at the event were local county councillors David Kirk and Robin Hughes, and district councillors Rod Bailey and Len Gates.
