To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster, the Grenfell Quilters organised a 24 hour quiltathlon to make a quilt, which would be donated to the Chernobyl Charity to raise funds.
"This is the third year the quilters have helped this charity; previously they have made quilts to give to the children, and they have also helped raise funds to pay for visits to the UK by the children who are recovering from the fallout."
Sir George congratulated Cherie Lumsden for her initiative in organising the event. "Cherie and half a dozen of the ladies will work the full 24 hour stretch, with the others doing shifts. They are supported by the Grateley WI who are manning the kitchen at Grateley Village Hall and providing refreshments."
