Sir George visits Popham Airfield
7 Apr 2006
"I have driven past Popham Airfield hundreds of time on the A303, but never looked in before. I was grateful to the owner, Susanna Church and the Airfield Manager Dick Richardson for arranging a most enjoyable visit. We saw some of the splendid old aeroplanes stored in the hangars, and went up in a Cessna, piloted by George Matthews."
"This is a very friendly club with several hundred members, and very competitive rates for storing and landing. Several times a year, the airfield hosts fundraising events, and it has a number of social members who look in for a meal. Spectators are free to come and watch planes landing and taking off."
