Laverstoke Park held its fourth open day at Southley Farm.
Jody Scheckter, owner of Laverstoke Park, gave a talk on the philosophy behind his approach to organic farming.
"Jody explained how he produces healthy food that tastes good, and how he plans to make the farm self-sufficient anmd self-sustaining. Each time I visit his farm, he has started another project. This time I say his new composting scheme, recycling green waste from local authorities and putting it on his fields."
Testbourne School provided the tea-tent and musical entertainment at the Open Day, and Raymond Blanc gave cooking demonstrations. Visitors could buy meat from the farm roasted on open spits, and watch sheep being sheared.
Overton Rugby Club ran a popular beer-tent. "Despite the rival attractions of Wimbledon and the World Cup, therfe was an excellent turn-out"
Laverstoke Park has just won the Best Organic Product Gold Award, in the Daily Telegraph Taste of Britain Awards.
"Jody showed me his new vineyard, where he will be producing English champagne - which complements his new hop field."
