St Peters Church, Goodworth Clatford, raises funds for Spire repairs
1 Jul 2006
Faced with the challenge of raising nearly £60,000 to repair the spire of their local church, Goodworth Clatford moved closer to its target with a fund-raising tea in the grounds of nearby St Peter's Close - and English Courtyard scheme of retirement flats.
"Despite clashing with the quarter-finals of the World Cup, there was a good turn out for this event. The village is over half way towards its target, and the scaffolding (costing £22,000)has just gone up. The wooden tiles need replacing - and the only other option was to remove the spte - a Victorian addition - but this would have cost even more."

Noel Shuttleworth, founder of English Courtyards, supported the event.
