Highclere Tories hold barbecue and croquet competition
16 Jul 2006
North West Hampshire Tories were determined that they should have at least equal claim on the croquet player vote by staging a croquet competition at the home of Cllr Horace Mitchell, where Highclere Branch Conservatives held their annual barbecue.

"We had a useful knockout competition, without about 60 competitors. We were lucky enough to have some experts who knew the rules - although one expert may have a different set of rules to another."
Speaking at the event, Sir George said politics was getting more interesting and equally balanced, as the Government entered choppy waters at the same time as the Conservative party was getting its act together."
