Cllr Caroline Nokes formally opened the new play space on King Arthurs Way, Andover by releasing balloons into the sky.
"There was a play area here before, but it had been vandalised, had a number of security issues and had no access for emergency vehicles."
"Test Valley Borough Council consulted extensively with Testway Housing (the landlords,) with the residents and children, and came up with an ambitious new design, with a wide range of the latest equipment in a safer environment. "
"The key to the success of this project lies in the children taking ownership of it, and looking after it. All the signs are very promising, not least because the children were involved in the design and layour of the equipment. I know that the Neighbourhood Wardens, the beat police and youth officers will keep an eye on the play area and the children - and it has come on stream at exactly the right time at the beginning of the summer holidays."
Present at the opening were Cllrs Len Gates, Robin Hughes, Josie Msonthi, Sandra Hawke, Marion Kerley, Pam Mutton and Chris Lynn, and County Councillor David Kirk.
