Guest of Honour at Finals Day at Andover Lawn Tennis Club was the local MP, Sir George Young.

"Margaret Winnett, the Club Chairman, and the Tournament Committee did a wonderful job in organising a record 24 finals. This included a marvellous Mens Doubles Finals which went to the Final Set and swung backwards and forwards. With 100 Junior Members, the Club is doing a great job in encouraging younger players - with opportunities for 3 year olds to start. And they also have an 85 year old lady, who plays three times a week."

"They have a number of coaches and on a Saturday up to 140 people come along, making it one of the most popular clubs in the town."

To celebrate the Club's 30 years on its present site - and 70 years since it started - a cake was cut. To cope with the growing popularity of the Club, it is considering relocating to a larger venue.
